About Knot My First Boateo

The boating life hooked me later in life. Though I took my first steps on the shores of the Atlantic Ocean, I grew up landlocked in Ft. Worth, Texas.  

My professional ports of call were in luxury hospitality, fashion, finance, and food. The tides changed when my children graduated from college and moved away, and my husband and I bought a condo in St. Petersburg, Florida. Living near a top sailing program and having access to open water, we immersed ourselves in the boating world, bought a power boat and learned to sail.

We met other boaters and sailors; we visited marinas and yacht clubs and immersed ourselves in coastal towns in the region.

The more I engaged with these communities, the more my appreciation for the nuanced skills and traditions involved in boating grew. I began to see boating not just as a pastime but as a culture and sailing as an intricate dance with the elements that requires respect and expertise.

Through Knot My First Boateo, I aim to create a fun lifestyle brand and a supportive network where women, especially, since we are largely underrepresented in boating, can share our experiences, tips, and stories, fostering a sense of camaraderie and empowerment.
